our church

Originally named as “Greencastle Bible Center” in 1942, Pastor Paul Robinson founded the church. In a few short years, the church was ready to grow into a new building. During WW2, it was not easy to get building permits, but by God’s grace, the church was able to be built. The lot was purchased where the church sits today. The church also purchased an old school house and reused those materials to build our building. In January of 1947, they began to use it for services. SInce then, there have been many godly men who have pastored our church through the years, but only by God’s grace are we still privileged to serve our community today, and we will rely upon Him as we continue to do that.

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the revealed Word of God and is the final authority in all matters of life. Although penned by human authors, both the Old and New Testament were inspired by God. Therefore, it is infallible, inerrant, and the source of truth.            (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Proverbs 30:5)

God

We believe in one God, Jehovah. He is a Spirit who is eternal, self-existent, sovereign, infinite, omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (everywhere at the same time), and omnipotent (all-powerful), immutable, all-loving, and all-together Holy. He has manifested Himself to us in three persons (the Trinity); Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The God-head is coequal, coexisting, and perfectly unified in the offices of their redemptive work. God desires fellowship and a personal relationship with every person and has made it possible through His Son, Jesus. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 6:2-3, 20:3; John 4:24; 1 Corinthians 8:6; 1 Timothy 1:17; 1 John 5:7; Revelation 4:11)

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and co-equal with God. He was supernaturally conceived and born of a virgin without changing any of His divine nature. He is the only way of salvation for all of mankind for all ages. He lived a sinless, perfect life while here on earth, making it possible to then pay for the sins of every person with His own blood when He gave his life on the cross. Jesus resurrected, conquering death, now giving us an assurance that He has the power to fulfill His promises of eternal life in Heaven. (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:22-23; John 1:1-5, 3:16-17; Romans 1:1-4; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 4:14-16, 9:22-28; 1 John 1:3)

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and is co-equal with God. He has been active from Creation and is necessary in revelation and redemption. He reproves the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, sanctifies, seals, empowers, guides, teaches, indwells, and infills the hearts of those who have placed their faith solely upon Jesus Christ to be their Savior. (Genesis 1:2; John 3:3-6, John 16:7-11; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18)

The Fall of Man

God created man in His spiritual image to be like Him in character. Our common ancestor, Adam, although created in innocence, deliberately disobeyed the revealed Will of God, for God has given each of us the power of our own free will. This brought both spiritual and physical death upon all of us from that point forward. Our nature became sinful and we are incapable of reforming ourselves or delivering ourselves from the penalty and power of sin. (Genesis 3; Isaiah 59:1-2; Romans 3:23, 5:12-19)

Salvation

We believe salvation from the penalty and power of sin comes only through Jesus Christ. By His grace of a substitutionary sacrifice, and His declaration that He is the only means of eternal fellowship with God the Father, we accept His finished work of redemption by faith in the Gospel; the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. All who reject Jesus as the Savior are already condemned to an eternity in hell because of their sinful condition. All who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation have fellowship with God now and will never be separated from Him, for He prepares a home in Heaven for us. We believe ALL can be saved, for God loves everyone and not just some. We believe once you are saved, you are always saved, for it is God who provided it and no man can pluck us from His Hand. (See our “Jesus” tab for more info on this) (John 3:16-17, 10:29, 14:6; Romans 5:1-11, 6:23, 10:9 &13; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; 1 Peter 1:3-5)

Second Coming

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ for His bride, the Church, comprised of all who have called upon Jesus to be their personal Savior. Also referred to as the rapture, we believe the dead will be raised first to meet Jesus in the air, and those still alive will be caught up with them. All believers will then stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ to be judged according to their works and the receiving of their rewards. Only believers appear at this judgment. (John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 5:1-9)

The Last Days

We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church, followed by the seven-year tribulation. We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule of 1,000 years. Following this one-thousand-year reign is the Great White Throne judgment, where only those who have not believed on Jesus Christ will stand and be judged according to their works. (1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22)
